Niofion is a Senufo town situated in the north of Ivory Coast, between Boundiali and Khorogo. This is where we find the biggest Fetish houses where local animist hold sacrifice ceremonies which could be of two kinds: Good and Bad.

The village itself is an excellent example of a traditional settlement in the north of Ivory Coast

We visited Niofolin during our ethnographic trip to Ivory Coast.

The fetish house is in the middle of the village. the village shaman is always near him.

The sacrifice is done by killing an animal and letting the blood drain on a sacred rock in the nearby hut. The sacrifices could be for anything like curing a sickness, to have a good crop, and other wishes as financial benefits, a good marriage, and also To put a spell on someone .
Rarely done nowadays , but sometimes people sacrifice their own child for the purpose of financial gain

As you could see, the thickness and the size of the roof is an ongoing process. Each year a new layer of straws is added on the top of it.
If we look closely at the walls of the house, we will see carvings of their deities and and animals (representing the animals that were sacrificed at some point)
