The Green Citadel (Grüne Zitadelle) is an eccentric residential building designed by the Austrian architect and painter Friedensreich Hundertwasser in Magdeburg. It was completed in 2005. This is the last project that Hundertwasser worked on before his death.

The usable area is 11,300 m².

There are several shops, a café and a restaurant on the ground floor. The building houses the theatre, an ART hotel and the “FriedensReich” day-care center. The upper floors of the building contain 53 apartments as well as practices and offices. [youtube]QY95fne5X9Q[/youtube]
The Green Citadel encloses two inner courtyards, in the larger one there is a fountain.
No two windows of the same shape can be seen from any of the windows.

The name of the house is based on the grassy roof. There are also a large number of trees on, in and around the building. Some have been planted on the roof, and others take root on the outside walls of the apartments.
