The Temple of Apollo (Tempio di Apollo), located on the island of Ortigia, looks contrasting against the background of modern buildings. Until the 19th century, the remains of the temple were hidden from the eyes of travelers. An archaeological group led by Paolo Orsi revealed to the world the ruins of an ancient temple, presumably built at the end of the first quarter of the 6th century BC. e. This is the most important ancient Greek monument on the island.The temple's stylobate measures 55.
